Engine room fire in Terneuzen
On Jan 8, 2016, around midday a fire broke out aboard the "Aries" which was underway from Hansweert to Ghent with two barges in the East lock of Terneuzen. Two fire engines responded to the fire in the engine room of the vessel. The crew tried to extinguish it first and then called for assistance from the fire brigade. The fire was extinguished around 1 p.m. Beause the skipper and the crew had inhaled smoke, they were checked by ambulance staff.
