Medevac off Southampton
On Jan 5, 2019 the Bembridge RNLI boat launched at 6.30 p.m. at the request of UK Coastguard to carry out a medevac of an elderly female passenger who had dislocated her shoulder from the "Balmoral" that was in the process of leaving Southampton Water bound for Lisbon. The "Alfred Albert Williams" rendezvoused with the "Balmoral" off Stokes Bay at 6.35 p.m. and the casualty was transferred on a stretcher to the lifeboat via the starboard pilot hatch. She and her husband were then taken into Portsmouth Camber and transferred to an ambulance. The "Alfred Albert Williams" subsequently returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 8.45 p.m.
Storm changed itinerary
After the departure from Bremen on Oct 22, 2018, he "Balmoral" skipped the scheduled call at Kiel on Oct 24 due to stormy weather and remained in Hamburg, where it berthed on Oct 23 at 4.20 a.m. Also the schedule call at Warnemünde was skipped. Instead the ship berthed in Kiel on Oct 25.
Lock damaged by swell
On Oct 20, 2018, at 8.30 p.m. the "Balmoral", sailing Weser upstream to Bremen, caused such a strong suction and high swell in the Hunte sesuary, that the pleasure boat lock of the yacht port Elsfleth suffered significant damage. The police launched an investigation against the 54 year old, Romanian master of the cruise ship who had to pay a safety fine. Some persons who were near the lock remained uninjured and were requested to report as witnesses. The "Balmoral" berthed in Bremen at 10.30 p.m. and sailed again on Oct 22 at 3 p.m, bound to Hamburg.News schreiben
