Search underway for missing passenger
Investigations were under way since the night of Feb 7, 2020, to locate a missing passenger from the 'Blue Star 2' in the western area of the islet Patroclos in the Saronic Gulf. A witness sailing by saw what he believed to be a man fall into the sea, with wind blowing at 4 Beaufort. Three coast guard vessels were immediately dispatched to the area, while five additional boats were already in the area. A Navy helicopter was also on its way. The ship had sailed from Piraeus and its route was Syros – Patmos – Leros – Kalymnos – Kos – Rhodes.
Passenger died on board
In the early morning hof Nov 1, 2019, the Port Authority of Syros was informed by the "Blue Star 2" on the death of a 78-year-old passenger during the voyage from the island of Kos to the port of Piraeus.
