Grounding in Solway

The Annan based 'Camm Alert' with three crew members on board ran aground in shallow waters in Solway waters in the Irish Sea on Aug 29, 2022, at 10 p.m. The trawler had encountered steering problems before. The Tobermory RNLI boat 'Elizabeth Fairlie Ramsey' was alerted by the UK Coastguard and proceeded to the grounding site near Quinish Point. On arrival, the volunteer crew found that the fishing vessel was on the rocks and listing at a 45 degree angle. The crew contacted the master who confirmed that the vessel was hard aground and not moving as a result of the good sea conditions. In light of this information and the tidal conditions, the lifeboat returned to Tobermory before heading back to the grounding site on Aug 30 at 05:30 a.m. With the tide rising, the volunteer crew passed a tow rope to the ship and managed to pull it off.
