Bowramp succumbed to fierce waves
The "Roope" almost sank east of Jurmo on Oct 16, 2012, shot past 5 p.m. The bow ramp of the ship that transported garbage succumbed to the fierce waves, and waves gushed into the ship. The Coast Guard was alerted at 5.30 p.m. when the situation was already very serious. The crew of threewas ready to abandon ship, but was at the last moment able to change direction and steer into the protected harbor on Nötö. The "Roope" was out on his last round trip for this year, when it calls at all Sopsälle stations in order to prepare them for the coming winter.
