Vintage coaster starts trial following main engine damage
After an engine failure, the "Caroline S" planned to undertake trials on July 1, 2016. During an overhaul of the main engine at the Petersen & Sørensen Motorværksted in Svendborg it was found out something was wrong with a crank bearing. The wear layer was gone, and small flakes of detached metal whirled around in the engine system. It took two weeks of thorough cleaning of all parts which had been in contact with lubricating oil. In addition, the bulkhead in the foreship was not accepted by the classification Society Bureau Veritas. The repair of this has required more than a week's time in the floating dock of Petersen & Sørensen in Frederiksøen. Due to the unexpected work, the "Caroline S" suffered a loss of 150000 Danish crowns in sailing with fish from Haderslev to Musholm Bay.
