Coast Guard Cutter repatriated 56 Cubans
The 'William Flores' repatriated 56 migrants to Cuba on Jan 2, 2024, following multiple interdictions off the Florida Keys. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations crews interdicted three migrant voyages off Florida's coast and in the Florida Straits from Dec. 26, 2023 through Dec. 29. Once aboard the Coast Guard cutter, all migrants received food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention. Coast Guard Cutter transferred 29 people to Bahamas
A Customs and Border Patrol Air and Marine Operations aircrew alerted the 'Resolute' of a migrant vessel on March 14, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., in the vicinity of Cay Sal, Bahamas. The vessel landed on Cay Sal Bank, and the Bahamian authorities requested Coast Guard crews to rescue the 17 Cubans off the island. One person was medevaced to a higher level of care. A Station Lake Worth Inlet law enforcement boat crew alerted Sector Miami watchstanders of a suspected smuggling venture on March 10 at approximately 9 p.m., in the vicinity of Lake Worth Inlet. There were 5 Ecuadorians, 3 Dominicans, 1 Cuban, 4 Chinese and 2 Vietnamese people aboard. The Coast Guard Cutter ÄWilliam FloresÄ transferred the 29 migrants to Bahamian immigration officers. Coast Guard cutters repatriated 80 Cubans
The 'William Flores' and 'Paul Clark' repatriated 80 Cubans to Cuba on Oct 15 and 16, following interdictions off Florida’s coast. A good Samaritan notified Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel on Oct 12 at approximately 7:30 p.m., about 60 miles south of Sugarloaf Key. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations aircrew alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel on Oct 13 at approximately 11:30 a.m., about 20 miles south of Key West. A Coast Guard Air Station Miami law enforcement airplane crew alerted Sector Key West of a migrant vessel the same day at approximately, 1:30 p.m., about 30 miles southwest of Key West. A Coast Guard Air Station Miami law enforcement airplane crew alerted Sector Key West of a migrant vessel the same day at approximately, 2:15 p.m., about 30 miles southeast of Marathon. A Coast Guard Station Islamorada law enforcement crew alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel on Oct 14 at approximately 8:30 a.m., in the vicinity of Tavernier Creek Marina. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations aircrew alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel the same day at approximately 9:15 a.m., about 20 miles south of Key West.
