Medevac in Brest
On Sep 20, 2020, in the harbour of Brest, the CROSS Corsen coordinated the medical evacuation of a technician from the "Disney Dream" at the CIB Brest Shipyard. A Dragon 29 Civil Security helicopter dropped off a medical team from the army health service at 1 p.m. Then it transported the technician, injured at the legs, to the regional university hospital of Brest, where he was taken care of at 2:40 p.m.
Tropical storm caused changes of itineraries
The Sept. 2 sailing of the "Disney Dream" will be delayed until Sept. 4 and shortened a two-night cruise. A planned stop in Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, on Sep 5 was dependent on the weather.
Medevac off West Palm Beach
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 46-year-old man due to medical complications from the "Disney Dream" 78 miles southeast of West Palm Beach, on Jan 25, 2018. Watchstanders with Coast Guard 7th District Command Center received a medevac request from the cruise ship reporting one of their passengers was experiencing medical complications and needed higher care than was available aboard the ship. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to assist. The helicopter crew arrived on scene with the vessel, hoisted the patient and flew him to Saint Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for further medical care.
