Container ship lost MOB twice
On July 17, 2015, the "Ebba Maersk" lost a MOB boat at 9.15. a.m. near the anchorage area of Schouwenbank. The pilot boat "Pollux" secured it alongside until it was taken over by the KNRM lifeboat "Dorus Rijkers" and was transferred to the "Ebba Maersk" by a line. Also the "Neeltje Jans" of the KNRM-station Stellendam was alerted but could return to its station before being on scene. The crew of the container ship waited for calmer weather before the MOB boat was taken back on board. Short time after the "Dorus Rijkers" returned to its station she was alerted again by the Coast Guard center that the MOB of the Ebba Maersk had slipped for the second time. After a brief consultation it was decided that the lifeboat "Antoinette" of the KNRM station Stellendam would be tasked to take the boat to the port of Stellendam. The "Ebba Maersk" docked at the PSA Deurganck Terminal in Antwerp on July 18 at 9.30 a.m. and sailed again in the morning of July 20 bound to Suez.
