Allision in Travemünde

On Jan 8, 2019, at 7 a.m. the "Europalink" upon its arrival from Malmö allided with the Scandinavia Quay in Travemünde and was damaged. After the turning manoever on the Trave, the ship backed to its berth but then hit it, suffering a breach of 80 x 40 centimeters two meters above the waterline at the port side stern in the ballast tank area. The quay suffered slight damage. The ferry could be unloaded and was detained until repairs were carried out. The departure to Malmö at 10 a.m. was cancelled, and the route Travemünde-Malmö was served by the "Finnartner" and "Finntrader". Repairs were to be carried out at the quay. The marine police Travemünde launched an investigation which showed that the master had misjudged the speed of his ship so that it could not stop in time. Repairs of grounding damage completed

The "Europalink", after lengthy repairs of grounding damage suffered in Peristeres in the night of Sep 21, 2014, and major refurbishment has left the yard in Altinova on Sep 20 at 5.30 p.m. bound for Yalova, ETA Sep 21. The ship dropped anchor off the port in pos. N 40° 41.54' E 029° 20.19' in the morning hours.

Repairs getting ahead

End of June the reconditioned gearbox was installed through a hole cut into the engine room of the "Europalink" in drydock at the Besiktas Shipyard in Altinova as a part of extensive refurbishment repairs after having suffered grounding damage. Repairs were expected to have been completed in September.
