The skipper of the "Le Sans Spe II" was medevaced by a civil security helicopter while his ship was off Cape Ferret on June 25, 2018. The crew of the trawler raised alert at 10:42 a.m. after the owner of the trawler complained of pain. The Dragon 33 took off at 11.25 a.m. The ship was then off the Cap Ferret. The patient was taken care of by the staff of the CHU Bordeaux at 11:50 a.m.
Trawler aground at Point Ferret beach
In the morning of June 26, 2014, the "Le Sans Spé II" ran aground at the coast of Point Ferret near Crohot Noir. The ship got the propeller fouled by a wooden pontoon that got stuck between the propeller and rudder while fishing cuttlefish and wedge sole off Cape Ferret. The vessel was disabled three kilometers north of the Truc-Vert beach. The disabled trawler then drifted onto the beach. The four crew members were safe, and the trawler was not damaged. At 6:30 a.m. the Cape Ferret semaphore was alerted. The lifeboat of the SNMS station Cape Ferret was called to assist the vessel which was high and dry on the beach at low tide. In a first step, a hole was dug around the vessel. The lifeboat "Gema" was dispatched to refloat it. In the afternoon it was the trawler "Petit Simon" of the same owner Mauri-Noël Helou, which refloated the ship and towed it to its homeport Arcachon in a slow mood which was complicated by the absence of rudder.
