Tug refloated

The salvage operation of the "Galesus" could be successfully completed on March 10 by Rimorchiatori Neapolitani srl, under the supervision of the Coast Guard. Grounded tug being lightered

Five tons of lubricants, oily residues and bilge water have been removed from the "Galesus". To allow its salvage, the operations of lightering of the diesel fuel als has begun. After the arrival of a pontoon from Taranto, the tug will also be emptied of a part of the equiment on board to be able to tow it. The salvage operations may end between March 12 and 13, weather permitting. The "Galesus" suffered heavy damage at the bottom of the hull which, however, may complicate the recovery of the tug.

Divers surveyed grounded tug

On Feb 28 divers were verifying the conditions of the "Galesus" which ran aground off Bari in an attempt to recover the "Efe Murat" despite the stormy sea.
