Tanker free again
The "Gascogne" which was hijacked of the Ivory Coast, 130 km off Abidjan, has been released by morning of Feb 6, and was under control of ist master. A part of the cargo has been stolen. The crew, which included seven sailors from Togo, four from Benin, two from Ivory Coast, two from Senegal and one each from China and South Korea, were safe, but two of them were slightly injured, but were being taken care of. No further information was available yet, but the owners Sea Tankers thanked all involved institutions. The ship had lost contact on Feb 3. It was now heading for Lome in Togo.
Tanker thought to have been hijacked
The "Gascogne" was presumably hijacked with a crew of 17 in the Gulf of Guinea off the Ivory Coast. A transponder giving the position was switched out. There was no radio contact either. A crisis team was established.
