Dead bodies recovered after collision

After the collision of the 'Glard-2' with the Turkish fishing vessel 'Dursun Ali Coşkun', which has six crew members on board, at the entrance of the Istanbul Strait off Rumelifeneri Area, in position 41 19.50 N, 29 02 50 E,, the dead bodies of three fishermen were found by the Coast Guard and transferred to the shore. The SAR operation was still underway for the missing three fishermen. The chemical tanker was shifted from the place of the incident place to the Turkeli Anchorage under its own power. An incident investigation file has been opened by both Harbour Master incident investigation desk for technical side and Public Prosecutor for legal side. The crew incident statement will be collected by the authorities together with ship engine and navigation systemÄs further records. The fishing boat had sunk in less than ten minutes from the impact. The survivor reported that those missing probably got stuck in the fishing vessel's cabin. According to officials of the Transport Ministry, the collision has not caused any pollution so far. The 'Glard 2' continued its voyage from Rostov-on-Don to Izmir after investigations and dropped anchor off Istanbul on Jan 21 at 2.30 a.m. in pos. 40° 58.66' N 028° 57.14' E while the investigations were continued. The ship finally arrived in Izmir on Jan 27 at 9 a.m.

Three missing in collision off Kilyos

The 'Glard 2' was in collision with the Turkish fishing vessel 'Dursun Ali Coşkun' on Jan 10, 2020, at 3.35 a.m. while approaching the anchorage north of Kilyos, Istanbul. five miles off the Turkish coast. The tanker was en route from Rostov-on-Don to Izmir. The fishing vessel sank within a few minutes, three of the six crew members were rescued by nearby other fishermen. For the three missing, an SAR operation was launched by the Turkish Coastguard with the lifeboats 'Kiyem 5' and 'Kiyem 8' and the patrol boats 'SG-KB7427', 'KB-4318', 'TCSG-71', 'TCSG-906' and 'TCSG-505' as well as helicopters and divers and fishing boats in the vicinity. Heavy fog may have contributed to the accident. The tanker anchored at the Istanbul Strait North Entrance with some bow damage.
