Two rescued, three dead and seven missing from rubber boat off Motril
On March 22, 2024, the 'Guardamar Polimnia' along with the SAR helicopter Helimer 205 and Frontex were mobilized by Salvamento Marítimo to a semi-sunk ruber boat 26 nautical miles off Cabo Sacratif/Motril. Two people were rescued alive and hoisted aboard teh helicopter amid adverse weather conditions. Three bodies were recpvered, and according to the two rescued, there were further seven people missing. Adverse weather conditions.
108 migrants rescued off Lanzarote
The CCS Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo has coordinated the assistance to two rubber boats in the afternoon of Jan 15 east of Lanzarote. One boat had 56 people on board, who were rescued by the 'Guardamar Calíope' and the other had 52 migrants on board, who were rescued by the 'Guardamar Polimnia'. Aftre the start of the Viking Explorer race that left Gran Canaria towards Cape Verde on Jan 7, 2024, one of the participating sailboats reported at cayuco 101 nautical miles southwest of Maspalomas. The CCS Las Palmas mobilizes the Helimer 204 helicopter and the 'Guardamar Polimnia'. The 37 sub-Saharans were rescued and transferred to Arguineguín.
