Dredger has unexploded ordnance on board
The 'HAM 316', en route from Liverpool port on dredging duties in the Liverpool Channel, reported unexploded ordnance on board the vessel, 12 nautical miles west of Formby in Liverpool Bay in pos. 53 33 44 N, 003 24 02 W, on Jan 3, 2023, at 8 a.m. UTC. The Coastguard investigated the method to resolve the suspected unexploded ordnance. The vessel will remain at anchor until further notice. The dredger was stationary in pos. 53 33 43 N, 003 24 00 W, about 1.7 nautical miles off Hamilton Field, at noon.
Dredger crew saved sailor off Lincolnshire
A 57-year-old Dutch sailor was rescued by the "HAM 316" off the Lincolnshire coast. The vessel was at anchor just after 4 a.m. on May 4, 2018, when a man in a yacht who was distressed and unwell required assistance. The crew took the man onboard their vessel and called the Coastguard, who sent out an RNLI Lifeboat from Skegness and a rescue helicopter from Humberside Airport. The man was taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital by helicopter at around 7 a.m. The lifeboat towed the man’s yacht to Grimsby Port where he was later reunited with it. Dredging under way for Liverpool2
The Liverpool2 container terminal has taken an important step closer to realisation with the arrival of Dutch dredging contractor Van Oord’s 9,535m³ trailing suction hopper dredger HAM 316, that has started dredging the River Mersey estuary.
