Tug assisted after allision in Moerdijk
On April 30, 2022, at 1 a.m. a pusher tug with seven crew members on board, along with four loaded barges, slammed into a pillar of the Moerdijk road bridge. There were no injuries. However, the emergency services, including boats from the KNRM and the fire brigade as well as police and Rijkswaterstaat attended the scene. The waterway was reopened to shipping again at 6 a.m. There appeared to be no danger of sinking of the heavily damaged front barge, and no injuries were reported. There was no damage to the bridge. The national police was investigating the cause of the accident. The nearby 'Hercules IX', 210 dwt (EU-No.: 02318467), assisted after the accident and started to secure and remove the barges of the convoy from the scene.
