Perpetrators stole scrap metal from towed barge
The 'HK Tug 8', while towing the barge 'LKH 2882' in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme of the Singapore Strait . approximately three nautical miles off Pulau Nongsa in pos. 01°14.20' N, 104°02.32' E, was boarded by 10 unarmed perpetratorson Aug 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. The intruders stole scrap metals from the barge.
Barge boarded by robbers in Singapore Strait
The 'Kim Hock Tug 8' (299 gt, built 2009), while towing the barge 'LKH 7887' in the Singapore Strait, in position 01 10 59N, 103 50 06E, was approached by about 10 to 15 small sampans with robbers on board who came alongside and boarded the barge to steal its scrap metal cargo on Dec 6, 2019, at 11.30 a.m. The tug 'Kim Hock Virgo', which was escorting the 'Kim Hock Tug 8', assisted to chase away the robbers in the sampans.
