Fate of Bundaburg remains uncertain
Investigations into the fire aboard the HMAS "Bundaberg" were still ongoing. The fire, which caused extensive damage to both HMAS Bundaberg and the boat shed it was in, was blamed for Aluminium Boats Australia being placed into administration on Nov 4. An Australian Defence Force spokeswoman was unable to shed any light on when – or if – the boat would resume active service. The vessel has suffered extensive damage, the full extent of which will not be known until investigations have been completed. Ninety staff of the Aluminium Boats Australia were laid off in the immediate aftermath of the fire, with the remaining 70 sacked on Nov 4. The company's clients included the Royal Australian Navy, the Queensland Police Service, the Mooloolaba Coast Guard and Cruise Whitsundays. Investigation into fire has started
On Aug 12 authorities started assessing what led to the fire that engulfed HMAS "Bundaberg", which was undergoing routine maintenance in a shed at Hemmant. The fire started on Aug 11 about midday and at its peak 50 firefighters and 16 fire trucks were at the scene. Smoke was visible from most parts of Brisbane. As the ship was in a shed it was difficult to assess the full extent of the damage.

A fire aboard the HMAS "Bundaberg" east of Brisbane has been brought under control after three hours on Aug 11, 2014. Firefighters in breathing apparatus remained at a commercial boat shed on Barku Court in Hemmant, about 11 kilometres east of the CBD. Earlier, about 50 firefighers and 16 fire trucks were called to the scene where the HMAS "Bundaberg" was undergoing a routine maintenance. Fire crews were called to the shipyards on the Brisbane River at 11.52 a.m. after an automated alarm went off. The boat was fully engulfed in flames when the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services arrived. Two civilians were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation. No members of the Navy crew were injured in the incident. An assessment of damage and an investigation into the cause of the fire was to be undertaken once it is safe to do so.
