Russia flew dangerous mock attacks

According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, Russian fighter jets flew mock attacks against the HNLMS 'Evertsen' in the Black Sea. As the ministry tweeted on June 29, 2021, the Russian jets created a dangerous situation near the frigate with their approaches. Thy flew very low over the ship during their mock attacks. During this incident, which occurred on June 24, the frigate was in international waters southeast of the Russian-occupied Crimea. On June 23 the Russian Black Sea Fleet stationed in Sevastopol had reportedly forced the British destroyer HMS 'Defender' near the Crimea to change course with warning shots and bombs. Russia had called the maneuver a provocation and warned of the dangers of such an approach. The incident with the British destroyer marked the first time since the Cold War that Russia had used live ammunition to deter a warship belonging to a NATO member state.
