Tug to be broken up
After plans to prepare and sink the "Indusbank" as a diving object near Bonaire failed, the former NRS tug has left Damen Shipyards in Curacao to cross the bay to the breakers to be broken up start of August, 2019.
Burnt out tug pulled to port
After the fire aboard the "Indusbank" on Feb 1 near the WEB in Hato-Bonaire, the investigation into the cause of this fire has started. Thanks to the fast action by the senior pilot, the worst could be averted as he immediately dislodged the connection to the tanker. The crew was soon taken on board and there were no injuries. The tug "SL Missouri" (MMSI: 308176000) was called and soon on the spot. Its crew started fighting the fire immediately with the help of water cannons. For safety reasons, the tug was taken to a position two miles from the coast. Fire brigade, police, Coast Guard and STINAPA were immediately informed of the fire and were soon on the spot. The fire service has checked the situation on the "Indusbank". After finding that the fire was extinguished, they immediately performed the necessary measurements. After this, the firefighters confirmed that the tug was safe to moor in the port of Kralendijk.
Tug in flames off Bonaire
In the morning of Feb 1, 2018, the "Indusbank" caught fire at the height of Kaya Rotterdam in the Hato district on Bonaire. The ship had just pulled away a tanker away from the WEB terminal after which the fire broke out. The exact circumstances were still unclear. The tug has been taken to the open sea by the fire brigade, where it was allowed to burn out. The crew had been transferred onto another tug before.
