Ferry responded to burning fishing boat
Both the "Ingøy" and the lifeboat "Odin" from Rypefjord in Hammerfestresponded when a fire broke out in a fishing boat at Kabelneset in the Kullfjord on Sep 13, 2022, at 08.30 a.m. The "Ingøy" that was the first to arrive at the casualty near Havøysund. At 10.55 a.m. the 'Odin' came alongside the vessel for extinguishing. The wreck, however, burnt out. As initially it was not known if there were people on board, also a rescue helicopter was sent from Banak as well as a fire boat from Havøysund. When it became clear that there were no missing people, the helicopter was stood down. The gutted 30-ft-boat was sunk. The cause of the fire was so far unknown.
