Ferry delayed due to engine issue

The 'Isle of Mull', serving on the route Oban-Craignure, suffered a technical issue withthe port side main engine on the morning of July 30. The issue required further investigation at the quay in Oman, and as a consequence, the scheduled departure from the port at 07:25 was delayed. After repairs were successfully completed, the vessel started loading operations, but there may be a knock on delay to the sailings for the remainder of the day. Customers were advised, however, to check in as normal.

Evacuation slides repairs pushed back

The 'Isle of Mull' return was pushed back a little further. CalMac's expectation was to have the evacuation slides repaired and be ready to re- enter service by June 25. That represented a 10 day extension on the original plan, which would have seen her return by June 15. Due to the knock-on effect of delays to the 'Finlaggan's over-haul, that date was pushed back another four days to June 29. The ferry will be heading for dry-dock in Greenock on May 24, to have her new marine evacuation slides fitted. That gives five weeks to have the work done, to return just before the peak month of July. All those with affected bookings should be contacted by CalMac.

Ferry suffered issue with radar

The 'Isle of Mull', serving on the route Oban-Lochboisdale-Castlebay, suffered an issue with the radar on March 25. The defect required further investigations. As a consequence, the scheduled 1:35 p.m. departure from Oban was delayed. The vessel finally departed Oban one hour behind schedule.
