Fire on ferry quickly controlled
The "John F. Kennedy" caught fire at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George on Dec 16, 2017, shortly after 9 a.m. at the Ferry Terminal in St. George. The fire started at the machine room of theferry and was controlled within half an hour by the FDNY. The ship was on the dry dock for repairs. One civilian suffered a minor injury. The patient was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton.

Four people were hospitalized when the "John F. Kennedy" caught fire at the tip of lower Manhattan while approaching the Whitehall Terminal about 6:40 p.m. on Jan 26, 2016. A small fire erupted in the engine room. he captain shut off the engine, quickly put out the fire and docked the vessel. Six people suffered respiratory problems as smoke billowed into the cabin, officials said. Two were treated at the scene. Four more were taken to Lower Manhattan Hospital for further treatment.
