Ferry ran aground near Formentera
On Sep 15, 2016, at 9.15 p.m. the "Joven Antonia II" ran aground en route from Platja d'en Bossa to Formentera 15 minutes after the departure on the islet of Sa Torreta. The ship had seven passengers and five crew members on board, no injuries were reported. They were rescued by a ship of the same company that went immediately to the scene and took the passengers to the port of Formentera, where they arrived around 10 p.m. The "Salvamento Markab" was sent to the accident site, and the next morning the vessel was refloated and towed to the port of Ibiza without any observed signs of contamination. While it was still too early to know the cause for why the ship deviated from its course possibly it was due to human error.
