Mechanical trouble off Kyllini
On Oct 25 at noon, the Port Authority of Kyllini was informed by the Captain of the 'Kefalonia' abouta mechanical failure of the ship while sailing three nautical miles off the port of Kyllini, en route from Kyllini with 303 passengers, 108 cars, one motorcycle, four trucks, one bus, one camper and 43 crew members on board on a scheduled route to the port of Poros, Kefalonia. The ship dropped anchor outside the port of Kyllini, while a patrol boat of the Greek Coast Guard attended to the area to provide assistance along with the tug 'Lympousakis Chios'. With the assistance of the tug and the escort of the patrol boat, the ferry sailed safely to the port of Kyllini, where the passengers disembarked and the vehicles were unloaded. The Kyllini Port Authority, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, initially banned the ship from sailing. After an inspection by the Local Ship Inspection Team and the presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the classification society that monitors it, it was allowed to continue sailing. The passengers were transported to their destination with the care of the ship-owning company.
Ferry sidelined after strong vibrations occurred
On Sep 11 at noon, the Port Authority of Zakynthos was informed by the Captain of the 'Kefalonia' about a strong vibration of the port side on the ferry during its unmooring manoever while carrying out a scheduled route from the port of Zakynthos to the port of Kyllini with 222 passengers, 85 vehiclles and four buses on board. The ship returned and docked at the port of Zakynthos, where it disembarkied the passengers and vehicles safely. An inspection was carried out by the Local Ship Inspection Unit of the port of Zakynthos. The Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the monitoring classification society. The passengers and vehicles were transported to their destination under the company's care with the ferry 'Mare di Levante'.
Ramp malfunction in Kyllini
On Sep 7 at noon, the Port Authority of Kyllini was informed by the Master of the 'Kefalonia' that while the ship was executing a scheduled route from the port of Zakynthos, a malfunction of a vehicle ramp occurred. The Kyllini Port Authority initially banned the ship from sailing, but after an inspection by the local inspection team and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society, it was allowed to continuef the sailing with 63 passengers on board.
