The Ministry of Transportation has deployed patrol boats in search of the missing crewmembers of the KM "Lintas Timur" which sank in the Banggai Sea off Central Sulawesi in rough seas that occurred in the area in recent days. One crewmember was found in the waters off Bangkep near Buko subdistrict. The ship departed from Bitung Port on May 28 with 3,000 sacks of cement on board. The survivor was rescued by a passing ship, the "Nurbayaksar", and taken to a medical facility in Luwuk. The Indonesian sailor suffered leg injuries believed to be caused by jellyfish. He reported that three crew members had died. The crew, who wore lifejackets, stayed together for a time, but the next day six people separated from the group, including the survivor.
