Grounding on Volga-Caspian Sea Channel

The 'Kompozitor Hasanov' ran aground with 16 crew members on board on Jan 14, 2021, at 9.35 p.m. on the Volga-Caspian Sea Channel at km 156 enroute to Astrakan in the Caspian Sea. There was no damage to the ship's hull nor pollution reported. Ship traffic was not affected.

Dangerous conditions on board of freighter with unpaid crew

The Chief Technical Labour Inspector of the Russian Seamen's Union reported on March 11, 2019, that he had visited the "Kompozitor Gasanov" following a complaint from crew members about non-operational refinancing and non-payment of wages. He reported that in his 54 years of work in the maritime industry, it was only the second time that he had seen such poor conditions in which the crew had to live and work. There was dirt and rubbish everywhere and broken dishes in the galley. The only food remaining on board is sausages and chicken which had passed its sell-by date three weeks ago. The crew has not been paid for more than three months and the shipowner is ignoring their requests for payment. Additionally, the engine room crew had to wear gas masks when entering the engine room, due to a leakage of exhaust gases. The Chief Technical Labour Inspector of the Russian Seamen's Union commented that the situation on board the vessel was unacceptable and extremely dangerous. The ship arrived at Malta Anchorage on April 8.

Freighter allided with lock gate parapet

The "Kompozitor Gasanov", en route from Astrakhan to St. Petersburg, allided with the lock-gate parapet while entering the Upper River Svir lock gate, on the Volgo-Balt Canal at km mark 1042 on Nov 19 at 9.05 a.m. The lock-gate parapet sustained two cracks measuring 2.5 metres and four metres in length, and the volume of broken concrete was about 2,5 cubic metres. There was no damage to the "Kompozitor Gasanov", which continued its passage to St. Petersburg.
