Fire in Guaragao

The 'Larko' broke off her moorings at the Guaraguao Oil Terminal, Puerto, on Sep 17, 2022, at around 083.0 a.m. LT while loading gasoline. Shortly after the mooring lines broke, a cargo hose also broke, and soon after a fire broke out. The tanker was taken to the port's outer anchorage by tugs, where it was moored and the fire brought under control within 40 minutes, no injures reported. Tanker released after repairs

The 'Hansa Prem' which had been facing the threat of being arrested, has been released based on the Kerala High Court order. An amount of 78 Lakh rupees to the Colombo Dockyard PLC, Sri Lanka for repair works carried out was requested on Feb 11, 2020. Following the arrest warrant issued by the High Court of Kerala,, the vessel owners submitted the amount due to the company in the court and prayed for the release. ubsequently, the court ordered the release of the vessel.

Arrest threat to tanker

The Ernakulam coastal police served a notice to the captain and owner of the 'Hansa Prem' which was facing an arrest threat, following a high court order, which has asked it not to leave the Kerala coast until further order. The notice was served by coastal police and the ‘daffedar’ from the HC on FEb 11, 2020. Colombo Dockyard PLC, a Sri Lanka-based company had filed a petition alleging that the vessel’s owner failed to pay an amount of Rs 78 lakh to the company for carrying out maintenance work. The petitioner had urged the court to prevent it from leaving the Kerala coast until it deposits the amount in the court. The Cochin Port expressed helplessness in arresting the ship since it has been anchored outside its jurisdiction. Subsequently, the court ordered the coastal police to arrest the ship. The vessel, registered in Mumbai, reached Kerala to fill oil from BPCL. The ship was being anchored 13.5 nautical miles off the coast in pos. 09° 51.31' N 076° 2.68' E. The state’s jurisdiction falls within 12 nautical miles from the coast. If the ship enters 12 nautical miles, it has to pay rent to the Cochin Shipyard. To avoid paying rent, the ship has been anchored at the international channel.
