MEdevac in Barentsea
The Norwegian Coast Guard vessel "Svalbard" was quickly on scene when a Spanish fisherman was injured on board the "Lodairo" in the Barents Sea in the night of July 18, 2013. The man had suffered serious injuries in an accident. The "Svalbard" sent a helicopter which was on scene 25 minutes after the call. The patient was hoisted and taken to Longyearbyen hospital. On July 19 the patient was forwarded by air ambulance to Tromsø and operated in the hospital there. The "Nuevo Virgen Lodairo" ran aground in the outer harbour basin in Leisundet on June 9, 2010, at 11 p.m. The ship which is homeported in Lodairo was underway to Tromsø. Divers of the rescue boat "Skomvær III" were sent down to survey the hull. The "Skomvær III" in vain tried to refloat the vessel, which at least refloated with a rope fixed to a bollard at the nearby NATO-quay which enabled it to pull itself from the rocks with own power. At 1.30 on June 10 the vessel was free again.
