Heaving rod damaged propeller of HSC

Mon May 20 12:17:50 CEST 2019 Timsen

Off the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern the "Line Charlotte‘ was involved in an incident with the British HSC "Windcat 34" (MMSI: 235101881) which was coming from Rostock and sailing on an Eastbound course, in the morning of May 18, 2019. The ships got so close to each other due to bad visibility, that a 12-millimeter-thick steel hauling rod got entangled in the starboard propeller of the HSC. Also the net winch of the fishing vessel was damaged. The propeller was blocked and the shaft suffered damage. The ship managed to return to Rostock, while the "Line Charlotte" headed towards Gilleleje. The water police Rostock launched an investigation.

Fishing vessel disabled off Cape Arkona

Tue Jan 10 09:18:07 CET 2017 Timsen

On Jan 7, 2017, the "Line Charlotte" radioed a mayday call around 1 p.m. after the ship had its propeller fouled and went adrift in SW winds of 7 Beaufort nine miles North of Cape Arkona. The lifeboat "Harro Koebke" of the DGzRS station Sassnitz was deployed to assist the crew of three and managed to take the casualty in tow in wave heights of three meters. The f/v was safely towed to Sassnitz, and already underway divers were ordered to clear the propeller from the obstruction.
