NGO ship rescued 83 migrants in two missions

The 'Louise Michel', after carrying out two different rescue operations for two small boats in difficulty, berthed at the General Cargo Terminal in Pozzallo on Oct 5 at 11.15 a.m. UTC with 83 rescued people on board. During the first rescue, 53 migrants were recovered from an overloaded dinghy in precarious navigability conditions. Then the humanitarian ship encountered another boat with 30 people on board, which had been adrift for three days.

NGO ship with 75 migrants stuck in Lampedusa

The 'Louise Michel' remained docked in Lampedusa, as adverse sea conditions did not allow the ship to continue sailing towards the port of Trapani to drop off 75 migrants, who were still on board. The ship was waiting for the weather and sea conditions to improve before continuing towards the port of Trapani.

28 migrants rescfued by Banksky-ship

On Aug 10 the "Louise Michel" disembarked 28 migrants in Trapani, who were rescued after 10 days adrift in the sea. The NGO ship was notified by a Frontex plane, and upon its arrival at the scene there were eight people in the water and a very crowded metal boat with 20 people on boarrd. All were safely pulled aboard the 'Louise Michel' and received medical attention, food and water. Meanwhile the 'Mare Go', which rescued 41 migrants in danger, who were transferred by the coast guard to Lampedusa, has been waiting for hours for the arrival of a patrol boat to transfer another 42 migrants, eight of whom were traveling in a boat with a damaged engine and another 36 in an iron boat.
