Ship on fire off Oudeschild
In the afternoon of Aug 7, 2018, the engine room of the "Maatje Johanna" caught fire off the port entrance Oudeschild. The fire brigade from Texel and the KNRM were alerted to the ship, and the lifeboat "Cornelis Dito" from Oudeschild jointly with the boat from Den Helder carried the rescue forces to the vessel. including transporting the fire brigade to the ship to combat the fire. The fire could be limited to the engine room. The skipper was so alert to close the hatch to cut off the supply of oxygen. There were a total of four people and a dog on board who remained unharmed. After the fire was under control, the ship was towed to the port so that the fire could be extinguished from the quay.
