Repairs of explosion damage completed
Permanent repairs of the explosion damage on the 'Sri Asih' have been completed at the Sefine Shipyard in Altinova to the satisfaction of a class surveyor. Sea trials were carried out at the Yalova anchorage from Dec 3-9 to test the performance. Subsequently, a new set of trading documents was issued by the flag state authority and classification society. After the completion of formalities, the vessel was granted departure permission and it sailed from Yalova on Dec 14, headed to Gibraltar, ETA Dec 24.
Explosion injured five workers
On Nov 3, 2020, at 10 a.m. an explosion occurred in a cargo tank of the 'Sri Asih' during a routine maintenance at the Sefine Shipyard, Yalova. The accident occurred in one of the non-working sloop tanks of the vessel. Although there was no work in or near the tank in which the explosion occurred, due to the severity of the explosion, five workers who were busy with a work permit in another part of the vessel were injured. As soon as the accident was reported, fully equipped health and fire teams arrived. The scene of the accident was secured and the personnel on board was evacuated. The injured workers were transferred to Yalova State Hospital and taken under precautionary observation. All were discharged by the hospital the same night. Following the evaluation and examination of the scene of the accident, work on board was allowed to begin again. The cause of the explosion and the extent of damage were unknown at this stage. The Harbour Master and Public Prosecutor have placed an Incident Investigation file in order to ascertain the cause of the incident and to assess the extent of damage. A technical damage survey was carried out by class surveyors, along with the owner's technical superintendent and shipyard engineers.
Tanker lost anchor
The "Maersk Princess" lost its 14.000 kilogram port side anchor along with its five shackles, in the anchorage No.7 near Ymuiden, in position 52 25 39 N, 004 00 12 E, on Feb 9, 2019, at 12.20 p.m. The ship berthed at the Oiltanking AMS in Amsterdam at 11.50 p.m.
