Call at Greenock skipped due to bad weather

Fri Aug 09 11:41:11 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Marina", which was due to call at Greenock Ocean Terminal on Aug 9, 2019, had to cancel the call to the Clyde because of poor weather conditions. The ship was instead heading to Dublin a day earlier with an ETA as of Aug 9, 8 p.m.

Medevac off Milford Sound

Mon Feb 23 13:28:19 CET 2015 Timsen

An American passenger was flown from Milford Sound to the Dunedin Hospital after falling ill aboard the "Marina" on Feb 22, 2015. The 75-year-old was evacuated on the advice of doctors on board the cruise ship. The Rescue Co-ordination Centre of New Zealand was advised of the man's condition but at that time the ship was too far off shore to be winched off by helicopter before nightfall. The "Marina" was scheduled to visit Milford Sound and the man was taken to shore by boat in the morning and transferred to hospital by the Otagorescue helicopter. H

Gale a blow to Aratoa

Tue Mar 04 18:57:23 CET 2014 Timsen

A severe gale forced the "Marina" to skip its scheduled visit to Akaroa Harbour on Mar 5, 2014. The "Marina" was sheltering at Wellington before proceeding to Picton, and also the cruise ship "Sea Princess" had to bypass the town. It was a blow to the town to miss two cruise ship visits which are a good source of income. Black Cat Cruises cancelled all boat tours in Lyttelton and Akaroa harbours along with the Diamond Harbour Ferry due to the hardest gale since a big storm in 2000 destroyed the marina. The ferry jetty at Lyttelton sustained some damage, but it was hoped the service could resume operating on Mar 4. Akaroa cruises were unlikely to restart this day.
