Engine failure in Mersin
The "Medkon Sinop" suffered an engine failure on Feb 5, 2019, at Mersin. The Turkish tug "Ocean Ergun" (IMO: 7222102) was appointed for towing the vessel to a Tuzla shipyard, and the towing commenced on Feb 10. During the Canakkale strait passage, a coastal safety tug provided escort service for vessel and strait traffic safety. The ship arrived on Tuzla anchorage in the morning of Feb19 and berthed at the shipyard pier at 1 p.m. upon completion of formalities. A detailed damage survey will be carried out by Owners superintendent together with Class surveyors. She left the port again on Apr 1 at 1.10 p.m. and headed to Izmit, before proceeding to Gemlik the same day, where it berthed on Apr 2 at 6 a.m. at theRoda Liman Container Terminal.
Engine damage in Bosphorus
The "Medkon Sinop", en route from Alexandria to Gemlik suffered a technical failure during the Bosphorus strait passage and subsequently moored in the Karanlik Liman anchorageon Sep 10, 2018, at 7 p.m. Repairs were carried out by the crew, and the ship berthed in Gemlik on Sep 12.
