Medevac off Norway
After the 'Mein Schiff 4' had sailed from Molde to Longyearbyen on Svalbard on July 12, 2023, the ship had to deviate from the planned route to carry out a medevac by helicopter on July 13. At around 1 p.m. the course was adjusted in order to sail a little closer to the Norwegian coast and shorten the route for the helicopter. The medevac was carried out around 3 p.m. a few kilometers from the Norwegian coast near the town of Bodö. After the patient was safely hoisted onto the helicopter, the ship set course for Svalbard again.
Cruise ship discovered empty rescue boat
En route from Las Palmas to Praia da Vitoria the crew of the 'Mein Schiff 4' remarked a rescue boat drifting in the waters of the Atlantic. The ship stopped to investigate the boat. It turned out that it originated from the sunken vehicles carrier 'Felicity Ace' which had come lose. The ship then resumed its voyage with an ETA as of April 13.
Medevac off Madeira
A 22-year-old woman of Indonesian nationality was medevaced from the "Mein Schiff 4", which was sailing 135 nautical miles south of Madeira on Nov 29, 2021. Following the alert at 11:15 a.m., informing that a passenger was complaining of severe pain in the abdominal area, the Portuguese Navy, through the MRCC Lisbon coordinated the rescue operation, with a Portuguese Air Force aircraft being immediately committed to the site. The operation was carried out by a Portuguese Air Force EH-101 aircraft from Porto Santo. The passenger was hoisted safely and taken in a stable condition to the Madeira airport Cristiano Ronaldo, where an ambulance from the Firefighters Sapadores de Santa Cruz and a medical team from EMIR were waiting. The woman was taken to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça hospital, where she was admitted to the Emergency Service.
