Luxury yacht ablaze in Viareggio

On March 25, 2020, at 1.30 p.m. a fire broke out aboard the 'Mr. Frank' in the port of Viareggio. Shortly after 1.30 p.m., the Viareggio Coast Guard was alerted and sent the patrol boat ‘CP 813’ to the berth in the Antonini-Doch of Darsena Europa opposite Madonnina which was used to cool the hull from outside. The fire brigade attended with two fire trucks. The firefighters climbed over the stern on board the Explorer 85, from whose aft superstructure plumes of flames were blazing on the upper deck. No one was on board the yacht, which can accommodate up to 10 people, when the fire broke out probably due to a short circuit in the electrical system. The firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighboring yachts. The damage to the 'Mr Frank' was, however, considerable.
