Tanker declared missing

Thu Jan 24 09:54:26 CET 2019 Timsen

On Jan 7, 2019, the "Bamse Bangdzod" was declared missing the by Indonesian Maritime Authorities. There was no contact to the tanker since Dec 28, 2018. The ship with 12 crew members on board and loaded with palm oil, had left Sampit, southern Kalimantan, bound for Jakarta. A large scale search across the Java Sea didn’t yield any results yet. The ship’s AIS had re-emerged on Marinetraffic.com on Jan 6, though the track was rather confused. All other available AIS did not have ship’s records since Nov/Dec. The search was still under way, with all Indonesian shipowners and ships being on alert. The possibility of a piracy act still seemed to be the most likely explanation, though usually it takes not more than some days to rob the tanker's cargo and release it.

No trace of missing tanker - mysterious AIS signals detected - hijack suspected

Tue Jan 08 18:45:51 CET 2019 Timsen

Indonesian authorities were searching for the missing "Namse Bangozod", but no trace has yet been found. The tanker’s AIS track disappeared after a hectic track on Jan 7, 2018. The tanker was already on Jakarta anchorage according to the track but in fact wasn’t. The tanker was declared missing by the Indonesian Maritime Authorities since Dec 28, 2018. The ship with 11 crew members on board and loaded with palm oil left Sampit, southern Kalimantan, bound for Jakarta. The contact got lost on Dec 28. A large-scaled search across the Java Sea didn’t reveal any results. The ship’s AIS re-emerged on Jan 6, though the track was kind of confused. All other available AIS don’t have ship’s records since November 2018. It was not ruled out that the tanker has been hijacked.
