Sun Nov 07 21:34:15 CET 2010 Timsen

On its voyage from Auckland to Suva the "Forum Pacific" participated in the search for a crewmember of the yacht "Wild Goose" who got lost underway from Rarotongan waters to New Zealand on Nov 4, 2o10. The extensive search was called off 24 hours after the man fell overboard from the 14 m yacht. A Royal New Zealand Air Force P3 Orion, the "Forum Pacific" and a French naval aircraft searched widely after the remaining crew of two had been unable to find him.

MV OCEAN WISDOM 8506452

Mon Aug 02 10:35:47 CEST 2010 Timsen

Two men have been rescued by the "Forum Pacific" after their yacht capsized in stormy seas near Niue on July 31, 2010. The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) detected an emergency locator beacon signal from the American-flagged 57-foot catamaran "Anna Valdivia" about 4 p.m. which was coming from a location around 126 nautical miles west of Niue. Repeated efforts to contact the yacht were unsuccessful. RCCNZ dispatched an Air Force P3 Orion from New Zealand and the "Forum Pacific", 80 nautical miles away from Anna, was asked to divert to the signal's location. The P3 Orion found the "Anna" capsized and inverted. However, the American skipper and his New Zealand crewman were safe, one still on board, and one in an inflatable dinghy attached to the catamaran. The P3 Orion maintained a vigil over the men overnight while "Forum Pacific" made its way to the scene and arrived about 6 a.m and the two men were now safe on board and en route to Niue.
