Technical failure under repair off Büyükdere
The 'New Way', en route from Mariupol to Ambarli, suffered a technical failure and moored at Büyükdere anchorage on Nov 10, 2021, at 7 p.m. Repairs were commenced by the crew, and vessel remained stationary at the anchorage position 40° 56.95' N 028° 38.98' E as of Nov 12.
Engine loss at Istanbul anchorage
The 'New Way', while enroute from Azov to Tekirdag, suffered an engine failure, lost power and drifted towards the shore at the Istanbul anchorage on Feb 26, 2021, at 3 a.m. The Coastal Safety tugs 'Kurtarma-3' and 'Kurtarma-11', a fast rescue boat and a technical team provided assistance. Subsequently, the vessel was secured by the tugs and was towed to ´Akhirkapi anchorage. The vessel has been imposed a fine due to breach of strait safe passage regulation. Vessel has to pay salvage expenses to Coastal Safety account prior to departure. It remained moored off Istanbul in pos. 40° 58.50' N 028° 56.91' E as of March 1.
