Medevac off Batz
On July 04, 2016 at 9 p.m. the CROSS Corsen was contacted by the "Nominoé" because one Crew member, a man of 24, felt a sharp pain in his leg. The "Nominoé" was 55 miles northwest of the island of Batz. Following a conference call with the Maritime Medical Consultation Centre (MMCC) in Toulouse, the Maritime Medical Coordination SAMU in Finistère and the ship, the decision was made to evacuate the sailor by helicopter to the center hospital of Brest. The CROSS commited a Cayman helicopter of the naval air base Lanvéoc Poulmic with a medicalized Team on board. It took off at 11:33 p.m. and reached the ship at 11:55 p.m. The sailor was hoisted aboard the Cayman on July 5 at 1:02 a.m. Due to bad weather conditions, the helicopter diverted to the airport of Guipavas where it arrived at 1:55 a.m. A team from the Regional Emergency Medical Service took the Patient by road to the hospital of La Cavale Blanche.
