Collision on the Danube
On Nov 27, 2015, at 11.30 a.m. the Belgian barge "Cymba" was in collision with the "Obelix" on the Danube underneath the ferry pt. Niederalteich. When she was overtaking the German ship which was underway from Linz to Bamberg with a cargo of 600 tons fertilizerThe "Cymba" was bound from Krems to the Netherlands with 1000 tons sugar beet pellets. The "Obelix" was pushed out of the fairway and drifted perpendicular to the river until the bow got stuck on the opppsite river bank, suffering various damages, but no water ingress. Both ships were able to reach the port of Deggendorf for surveys and inspections.
Grounding on the Danube
In the evening of Oct 28, 2013, the "Obelix" ran agound on a gravel bar on the Danube in Ruckasing. The accident happened due to a navigational mistake. The police in Deggendorf launched an investigation. Ship traffic was not affected as the ship was stuck outside the fairway.
