Sunken cruise ship to be dismantled
The "Ocean Dream" which is still capsized off Laem Chabang was now reported as being scrapped after attempts to parbuckle the wreck had failed, with the work expected to take about six months. Workers were using her lifeboats for transportation. Transport deputy minister at wrecksite
The Transport deputy minister Omsin Chivapruek questioned the Marine Department on Mar 1 over the sinking of the "Ocean Dream" off Sri Racha. He has ordered the Marine Department to check if there is still any vessel which anchored off any coast for a long time so that it be moved out. The Shanghai Eastime Ship Management had told Thai authorities on March 2014 that it would sail to Unithai shipyard for repair. The authorities have also coordinated with a local maritime firm to contact the Chinese owner and take full responsibility for the cost to move the ship away. The sunken ship caused no environment threat as authorities have use chemicals tom spray the light oil slicks near the wreckage site.
