Five and four years prison demanded after hit and run accident
Five and four years in prison were demanded by prosecutors on Nov 16 against the Azerbaijani captain and his 1st mate in their absence at the court in Brest in the case of the sinking of the f/v "Socalique" and manslaughter in 2007. The two men accused to be responsilbe for a hit and run and failure to render assistance to persons in danger. The prosecution also requested a fine of 300,000 Euro against the Turkish shipowner for the same charges, as a legal person. The "Ocean Jasper" had continued its voyage. After a hole 60 by 40 cm at starboard side was detected, the crew was eager to repair it.
