Bulkcarrier suffered engine trouble
The "Ojibway" was disabled due to a main engine problem, 6.7 miles northnortheast of Tecumseh, in pos. 42 24 36 N 082 50 00 W on July 19, 2019, at 3.20 p.m. The crew carried out repairs, and the ship proceeded to the ADM dock in Windsor. It sailed again on July 21.
Engine failure at Champlain
The "Ojibway" suffered d a momentary blackout, caused by a malfunction of a generator, three miles east of Champlain, Quebec, in position 46 26.5 N, 072 16.38 W, on Oct 27, 2018, at 11.55 a.m. It had sailed from Port Cartier and was enroute to Montreal, where it berthed on Oct 28 at 2.30 a.m.
Fire in galley caused significant damage
On July 6, 2017, at 4.37 p.m. a fire broke out in a galley located in the stern superstructure of the "Ojibway" berthed at Sarnia, Lake Huron, along the Exmouth St. in the north slip. The Sarnia Fire and Rescue along with Point Edward Fire and Rescuewere responded with more than 20 firefighters. One firefighter has been taken to hospital suffering from unknown, not life threatening injuries. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished, but not before it caused around $80,000 to $100,000 in damages. There were 29 crew members on the ship at the time of the fire who were all are accounted for. None were injured. The cause of the fire was unknown, but investigators have attended the scene.
