Storm gusts caused stern damage
The allision of the "Osman Gazi 1" with the pier in Güzelyali on Oct 24, 2015, at 7.30 a.m. happened on its maiden voyage for the İstanbul Deniz Otobüsleri AŞ on the İstanbul (Yenikapı)-Bursa (Mudanya/Güzelyalı) route. The accident happened during maneuvers to dock because of the storm in the Marmara region with strong northeastern winds. 767 passengers were on board at that time. The ferry suffered stern damage at port side which was currently repaired in Istanbul. Fast ferry Osman Gazi 1 damaged after collision with pier in Turkey
The fast ferry Osman Gazi 1 with 786 passengers collided with pier at Bursa Feribot Iskelesi in Mudanya, Turkey. The vessel was arriving from Yenikapi, Istanbul and hit the pier at slow speed due to engine failure. The fast ferry suffered sufficient damages in starboard aft area of the hull and breach above the water. During the accident on board there were 786 passengers and 178 vehicles, all disembarked on the pier without injuries and damages. The local authorities will follow an investigation and inspection of the ship. Collision in the Sea of Marmara
The "Osman Gazi 1" which is running between İstanbul's Yenikapı port and Güzelyalı, Bursa, collided with the ro-ro ship "UND Ege" in the Sea of Marmara on Dec 26, 2011, narrowly avoiding capsizing. The passengers remained seated during the collision at 8.44 a.m. The ro-ro ship hit the upper port side of the ferry's hull. After he ferry, which was carrying 830 passengers and 150 vehicles, was hit, panic broke out among the passengers. The ferry returned to Yenikapı after the crash, where the passengers were evacuated from the ferry. There was massive damage on the ship's bow. The ferry had departed from Güzelyalı at 7:30 a.m.
