Bulk carrier boarded by robbers
Two perpetrators were sighted in the engine room of the 'Papora Wisdom' in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme in the Singapore Strait, in position 001 15 25.8N, 104 06 46.2E, on Jan 28, 2020, at 2 a.m. The ship's alarm was sounded, and the perpetrators fled the vessel and escaped in a small boat. There was no confrontation between the perpetrators and the crew. A search was conducted on board the vessel and some engine spares were reported stolen. The Master reported the incident to the Singapore authorities and a safety navigational broadcast was initiated. The Republic of Singapore Navy, Singapore Police Coast Guard and the Indonesian authorities were notified. The crew and the vessel were safe and have resumed their passage to Hong Kong.
