Tanker arrestd off Amuay Bay

The crew of the 'Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi', which transports gasoline from the El Palito refinery, has been put in quarantine with a shipment of 20,000 barrels of gasoline that cannot be unloaded because the standards of the World Health Organization have not been met. The ship has been moored on the Puerto de La Cruz anchorage since Oct 4, 2020. The tankers 'Paramaconi' off Mauay Bay and 'Tamanaco' were in the same situation. The crew of the tankers were subjected to inhumane working conditions with rationed water and food, without medical care, no provision of safety equipment and, despite the fact that they remained on board for six continuous months, they earn 400.000 bolivars weekly. The ships were in precarious conditions, reaching almost operational collapse, to the extent that the gasoline discharge pipes have deteriorated.
