Fire in North Atlantic
On Nov 11, 2019, a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Polar Marquis' off Senegal. The fire aboard the ship which had a crew of 55, was extinguished and the situation was brought under control. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. 30 people have been relocated to a support vessel in the area and more were being considered to be taken off. The ship was taken in tow by the research ship 'Ocean Mermaid' (IMO: 9742443) in SE direction with the standby ships 'Ary' (IMO: 8928480) and 'Vivre-g' (IMO: 8650904 ), as escort. Operator GC Rieber has sent a team to Senegal to assist the crew.
